I can’t remember when I first understood the Gospel. I grew up surrounded with Bible stories and I always accepted them with the rest of history. I didn’t understand a lot about God though. He was just a checklist of do’s and don’ts. It wasn’t until my teenage years that I began to understand more and develop a personal relationship with God. He became my friend.

Last winter I was challenged in my secular classes as to the existence of God and the credibility of the Bible. I was asked questions I didn’t have answers for and my reality was shaken. I began reading and studying to find answers to those questions; one of my favorite books was The Case for Christ.

I still have lots to learn, and there are still many unknowns in the world, but I know that the Bible is the Word of God, that Jesus is God and that he died and rose again. Not only that, but I also know what the Bible says about me is true. I’m a child of God.

Getting baptized is one of those things that I kept thinking, “I’ll have to get that done someday.” In my study, I have grown more confident in my faith and I have been more eager to be baptized. I want to publicly demonstrate the fact that I was dead in my sin, but that through the Jesus I have been made alive.
